CARRASAUGA FESTIVAL FUN!
Share
I had the pleasure of representing Casa Betina as a vendor at the Carrasauga Festival from May 23-25, 2025.
Carrasauga is an annual festival in its 40th year that celebrates different cultures in pavilions and venues around the City of Mississauga. And the country of Portugal was one of the featured cultures. The event was based out of the Portuguese Cultural Centre in Streetsville.
The venue was filled with people feasting on delicious food and watching folklore dances and singing from the many Portuguese regions. There was even a cooking demonstration to make the infamous Pastel De Nata custard tart and Casa Betina was lucky enough to receive a shout out for its Pastel De Nata candle – all the great smells, and without the calories!
I can’t help but feel proud of my Portuguese-Canadian heritage in being witness to the festival. Being one of the oldest cultures in the world you can see influences from medieval Europe and the middle east and see its diversity and inclusivity. This I’m sure is the reason the pavilion was packed from opening until closing. And this year, the Portuguese venue had the honour of closing the entire Carrasauga event on Sunday, May 25, 2005.
The festival was also a chance for me to catch up with longtime family and friends, including the MPP for Port Credit, Rudy Cuzzetto, whom I went to high school with (we won’t discuss the year that was!)
My love for Casa Betina also grew as loyal and new customers discovered the brand. Many of the festival goers spent time chatting and giving the candle range a sniff with raves reviews from our beautiful Postcard Collection to 2025’s new launch, the Waves of Nazare. This was very popular with the folkdore dancers from Nazare.
There were so many discussions and ideas from attendees on how to bring the Portuguese Culture and the Casa Betina brand to many new customers. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your love, conversations, and feedback.
My heart is full after this weekend.
